Close and Critical is all about reading comprehension (so far), and includes original texts, photos, art, summaries and links to works published elsewhere. Here is one way to respond to questions:
1. Write the title and author, then write the question.
Q: How is a duck adapted to its habitat?
2. Underline key words in the question you might need to look for.
Q: How is a duck adapted to its habitat?
3. Turn the question into a statement.
Q: How is a duck adapted to its habitat? A: A duck is adapted to its habitat…
4. Read the article, or click the image to go to the website. A new tab/window will open so readers can switch back and forth.
5. Answer the question.
A: A duck is adapted to its habitat by its webbed feet.
6. Give details and examples.
A: A duck is adapted to its habitat by its webbed feet. Ducks have three toes, which are connected by flaps of skin in between. This adaptation helps the animal push large amounts of water beneath it, allowing it to swim faster.
7. Repeat steps 1-6 for each question.
